Project Freebird and its Participants

Project Freebird was an experimental program that took eight trainees from the original Spartan II program and intergrated them into a specialized program which they would spend the rest of their training years in. The program was meant to train Marines and ODST's to operate better with little to no intel from UNSC resources. It had good intentions, but the UNSC wasn't aware of its brutal training methods. The cadets would be thrown out into the wildnerness for days on end with nothing but their own knowledge to survive and return to their base. It was shut down shortly after augmentating and releasing their only eight subjects.
     Doctor Sarah Waylen was the one to create the program. She is a civilian scientist who approached the Office of Naval Intelligence with her proposal for better training soon after Doctor Halsey launched her Spartan II program. ONI contacted Halsey and got her permission to take candidates from her program and put them into Waylen's care. After the program shut down, Waylen went into hiding because the UNSC wanted to arrest her. Cheif Petty Officer Hokai was reintergrated into the UNSC and went on to serve for a few years before dying on a colonist planet after helping civilians evacuate from a Covenant attack.

This started out as an idea to draw Waylen and Hokai, since I haven't done it before. And it just kind of spread from there.
